Mock Up Mgazine Marking

Me

I have decided to give myself a Level 1 (23). This is because I will not achieve  a higher mark due to the lack of text showing that it is incomplete.

Jake

I gave Jake a level 2 (26), this is because he had a lack of text but some of it was there.

Kim

I have given Kim a Level 2 (24). Even though her magazine had no text I still think that colour scheme worked well and blended in together.

Lazer Magazine - Article

During 2011 Dubstep has became a rather popular Genre, this is because of the people who create this type of music as they have all worked incredibly hard to make it a phenomenon to the eyes of the younger and upcoming generation. The new Artist 'Zangola' is also setting the scene within many other artist, and standing out! He has played a good ammount of varied clubs and bars with his hometown Leicester, but he was unaware of what he had become. While playing at a local club in Leicester he was then spotted by a record label called 'JNG Records' these predicted that he was becoming a talented producer, they were right... after the production of his self titled EP 'Zangola' he was a renound star in the Dubstep eye and he began selling out bigger venues, as his fans wanted more and more out of him he then decided to create a 3rd EP this was to be called 'Zangtastic'. He kept of selling out with big crowds demanding to listen to the work that he created, by this time he was getting very popular on iTunes and he was gaining new fans at a astonishing rate. Little did he know that he had became one of the biggest producers in the Dubstep Genre.

This is why me and my team have came together to Interview 'Zangola', the new scene in this upcoming Genre.

Q. When did you first hear Dubstep?

A. It must have been about 2/3 years ago now, with classics from Cookie Monsta and Borgore, Excision Ect...

Q. Did you ever think that you would become such a big hit in thge Dubstep Genre?

A. To be honest with you, I had no idea that I had such a big crowd following me, I love all my fans, without them I wouldn't have got where I am today.

Q. What about your iTunes and BeatPort progress, did you think you would become such a star?

A. The competetion within both iTunes and BeatPort is very strong, so i had to make an EP that could come out all guns blazing and deleiver something as good as other producers were doing.

Q. Who was your main influence to start producing this kind of music?

A. Everybody will hate me for saying this but I would say Skrillex has influenced my music the most I just think he is an all round talented individual, but I can't forget artists like Boy Kid Cloud, Knife Party, High Rankin, Rednek, KOAN Sound. The list could go on for days! But you can certainly hear their influences in my work.

Q. How would you describe your music to someone that hasn’t heard it before?

A. Haha! Well I really don't know how to answer this. A friend of mine says it makes him want to kill people! Not sure if that's a compliment or not. On a serious note I'd say it's heavy electro, dubstep, house elements, brostep if you want to be picky about it.

Q. Have you planned any up coming gigs, if so what are they?

A. Well I hoped you didn't ask me this because I can't reveal anything at this stage, if I could I would! But, don't worry I have sat down with my manager and discussed the year of 2012, I will certainly not be going off the radar!

Q. What do you want your outcomes to be in the future?

A. All I want is my fans, they are the ones that have made me who I have became. I also wouldn't mind doing a few festivals. I used to go to them when I was about 16-18 years old, I loved them... Maybe playing one will be even better!

Q. Are there any producers that you are not really a fan of?

A. To be honest, I'm not that sort of person. I try to get along with everyone, it's the music that people create that i'm not a fan of. I don't really want to mention any names because then I would look like a bad person and I wouldn't exactly to in their good books either.

Q. As we are running out of time, can you tell us how good the whole experience has been?

A. It honestly cannot be explained in words. It has been incredible! I have gone from nothing to a producer with countless fans, it really does amaze me.

Magazine Pitch - Evaluation

Magazine Pitch Evaluation

I think my pitch went down fairly well with the rest of the class, most of the comments and feedback that I was given said that I have a 'very good understanding of what is going to be in my magazine', and 'that I know about the Genre that I have chose to do'. They also said that 'it is different as not many of the class are doing an Electronically based magazine'. Furthermore, another person said that 'I had chosen a good price for a monthly magazine as it wasn't too high or low'. Someone said that I had 'good ideas, and that it is very unique'. The genre of music that I chose would mainly suit a Male audience, but It could also suit woman audiences if they were interested in it. The constructive criticism that I received was that 'I have to decide on the name for the magazine', I have now chosen the name 'Lazer' because it fits in with the music genre that I have picked. Other Criticism that received was that 'I didn't say anything a lot the layout', my layout will be fairly simple but with enough information so that the audience will know what the point is that my magazine will be trying to get across, my magazine will contain an equal amount of writing and pictures. The magazine price that I chose seemed like it would work, it is about £3.50 and for a monthly magazine that is going to be a glossy magazine, it isn't too expensive or too under priced. The reason I chose to do a monthly magazine was because there isn't a vast amount of people that are making it, but It is an upcoming genre that may well get a big audience in the future, if I made it a weekly magazine I would be worried that there might not be enough information throughout the week to fill it.

Double Page Spread Influences

I think that this is what I will be basing my magazine Double Page Spread (DPS) around. My version will consist of a Black, White and Purple colour scheme unlike the Black, White and Red one that this has. I will also change the Images and probably only have one image like the one on the  right of the page but place it on the left side and on the other side have writing.

Artist Profile

Artist Profile

Zangola is a new Dubstep/House producer who is producing all kinds of Electronic music. He lives in Leicestershire and he began producing music in early 2011 with his first track 'Musturd', he originally made this as a mess about and didn't expect that he would be getting recognised by many different new and upcoming record labels. He has one EP which has been released which is doing very well for itself in a Genre which is very different from most others, he is also working on releasing a new EP in about a months time, looking on how well the first one came out with a large success, this one should destroy the scales and give a new image to Electronic music. He has many influences including 'Skrillex', 'Knife Party', 'Kill The Noise' and 'Porter Robinson'. He has also done a few collaborations with 'Divided By Zero' a new artist that is springing out in style with some brilliant tracks.
